Jar Jar Speaks!

Who’s the character Star Wars fans hate the most?  Bing Bon…Jar Jar Binks!

You know, there is a guy behind the character.  Ever wonder what he thinks of all that?  He…actually seems to have taken the whole experience in stride.  In an Skype interview with Star Wars superfan Jaime Stangroom, actor Ahmed Best comes across pretty well. Yeah, you may still not like the character, but you can at least find something decent to say about Best, who seems fully aware why Jar Jar is so despised.  Plus, he says he has no interest in going back to Star Wars.

See the interview after the cut, which ends with Best doing the Jar Jar voice to do Liam Neeson’s famous monologue from Taken.

Geek Lit: Taken (Alex Verus Book 3)

untitled

Benedict Jacka’s Alex Verus often refers to himself as a not particularly powerful mage in a world where many mages, particularly battlemages, could easily clean his clock in a lethal manner.  Why then is he still alive?

Because his magic gift is seeing potential futures.  Review and some SPOILERS after the cut.

“Maze Runner” Director Moving On To Jotunheim

Not a scene from the source material, which is too bad.
Not a scene from the source material, which is too bad.

So, YA movies are the big thing, and when they do well enough to earn a sequel, or at least the contract that got signed more or less suggests the studio is going to do a sequel anyway, but most likely the former, then sometimes the director will be in demand for other things.

That’s what happened for Maze Runner director Wes Ball, whose been tapped to direct something about the Norse gods.

ICYMI-Taken 3: The Worst Film of 2015

tombstone

Taken 3 isn’t just the worst film because not many movies are out this year.  It’s the worst because it is THE WORST.  But first, because it must be done, to the entire production crew of Taken 3:

I don’t know who you are.  I don’t know how you think.  If you are looking for my money, I can tell you that you already have it.  But what I do have are a very particular set of writing skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career.  Skills that make me review crap made by people like you.  If you stop no, this will be the end of it.  I will not review you again, I will not pursue you.  But if you make Taken 4, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will review the s&*t out of you.

Slightly Misplaced Comics Heroes Case Files #2: The Unknown Soldier

"Hey, Unknown Soldier, STOP HELPING THE NAZIS!"
“Hey, Unknown Soldier, STOP HELPING THE NAZIS!”

He was a mystery man, a soldier and assassin who made Axis agents tremble during World War II.  He also had no name.  That was deliberate.

He was…the Unknown Soldier!

Weekly Box Office Report: Man Were Watson and Ryan Wrong!

AMERICAN SNIPER

Yikes!  I was gabbing with Ryan this week about box office projections (yes…this is what we talk about in real life) and we both scoffed at the lofty box office projections of American Sniper.  I thought maybe….maybe, the film could hit the upside of matching Sole Survivor’s $120M.  I honestly thought it would finish its run with $80-90M unless it won Best Picture.  Ryan even took the Under on that call.  Well, I was right about the $90M number….if I predicted that for OPENING WEEKEND!

Gabbing Geek Weekend Box Office Report

Thank Goodness!

Debuting in the box office wasteland that is January?  A film so bad Ryan contemplated filing charges in his review?  Facing a competitive NFL Playoff Weekend?

Despite all these things that should have killed it, Taken 3 hit big this weekend.

May God have mercy on all of us.

Liam Neeson Prank Calls Ex Boyfriend (Uses Specific Kind Of Skills)

Earlier today we gave you Liam Neeson’s Top 10 Films. And if you had any doubt in your mind that he is a badass, then you need only to watch this video. Summery: You don’t F*#% with Liam Neeson, or anyone he cares about. That is all.

The Ten Best Liam Neeson Action Films

In time for the release of Taken 3 (in theaters today!), Comingsoon.net counts down the ten best action films of the great Liam Neeson.  The orignal Taken is a deserving #1, but we cannot BELIEVE the author left Liam’s role in Love, Actually off the list entirely!  Remember the scene where Neeson snaps and starts killing the other characters because nothing had happened the whole damned movie?  Neither do we, but wouldn’t that have been sweet!?!
