Jimmy Attempts To Read All Of Secret Wars 47 (Guardians Of Knowhere Edition)

With Secret Wars so delayed I thought I might actually get my write ups done before the event finished.  Well, I’ve got approximately 9 days to cover 39 issues.  Not impossible, but going to be tough.   After the break I’ll have a look at Guardians of Knowhere #1-4.  The Bendis/Deodato joint that essentially took the Guradians of the Galaxy shipping slot with the end of the universe.

Jimmy Attempts To Read All Of Secret Wars 45 (Issue 5 Edition)

This week saw the release of Ultimate End #5, the second to last Secret Wars book.  Now we just have to wait a month for the four month delayed finale to get the anticlimactic details on how Doom was defeated and everything basically returned to normal.  Where All-New, All-Different seems to equal “we got Miles now and Wolverine is back (kinda)”.

Click through as I cover the fifth and final issues of the following books: Ultimate End #5, Planet Hulk #5, Secret Wars 2099 #5, Armor Wars #5, Spider-Verse #5, Inhumans: Attilan Rising #5, Inferno #5 and A-Force #5 .

As usual there are spoilers, so take care, especially with Ultimate End which is only days old.  The others have been out a while.

Jimmy Attempts To Read All Of Secret Wars XXXI (M.O.D.O.K. Edition)

If you had told me six months ago that a story about a killer organism that was essentially a giant head with arms and legs would be one of the best Secret Wars books, I would have laughed at you.  Especially after I read and hated the first M.O.D.O.K. short story in Secret Wars Battleworld #1.  (Though, in fairness, that was a different M.O.D.O.K..)

But here we are, and M.O.D.O.K. Assassin has really risen near the top of the heap.  Especially impressive given my low expectations.  I currently have it ranked 18th on the Secret Wars Power Rankings.  M.O.D.O.K. Assassin got better with every issue and is one of the few books that successfully landed the ending.

After the cut I’ll take a CliffsNotes (Coles Notes for my Canadian brethren) style look at M.O.D.O.K. Assassin #1, M.O.D.O.K. Assassin #2, M.O.D.O.K. Assassin #3, M.O.D.O.K. Assassin #4 and you guessed it M.O.D.O.K. Assassin #5.

Jimmy Attempts To Read All Of Secret Wars XXVII: Mrs. Deadpool Edition

I’ve never read much Deadpool.  I’ve got nothing against the character voted in high school as most likely to be twice played by Ryan Reynolds.  He’s just never really been something I’ve gone out of my way to spend my money on.

I’ve read some stories here and there like the old school X-Force days and any crossovers like the recent Original Sin and Avengers/X-Men: Axis .  Those last crossovers gave me some idea about what was going on with him marrying Shiklah and such.  (Looking back at it now, I actually read Deadpool #29– 34 and  #36-39.  Thanks event tie-ins!)

And speaking of event tie-ins (not the greatest segue, I’m no Watson…thank Doom…), Deadpool’s wife is center stage in this Secret Wars book.  Deadpool does play a role, but since he is killed on the first page, that role is mostly as the ghostly narrator.

After the cut I’ll take a spoiler-y look at the surprisingly good Mrs. Deadpool And The Howling Commandos #1, Mrs. Deadpool And The Howling Commandos #2, Mrs. Deadpool And The Howling Commandos #3 and Mrs. Deadpool And The Howling Commandos #4.

Jimmy Attempts To Read All Of Secret Wars XXIII (Inhumans Edition)

I’ve never cared much about the Inhumans.  And I’m willing to bet if Marvel had the movie and tv rights to the X-Men, we wouldn’t be seeing the massive Inhumans push from them that we are seeing today.  High profile comic launches, essentially the entire season two and looks like season three storylines of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a major motion picture in 2019 (which seems way too far off and they should be capatilizing on what they are setting up with AoS now, but anyway…), everything is coming up Inhumans.

After the cut I’ll look at the first four issues of Inhumans series from this beast of an event called Secret Wars.  It’s another of those series I had little interest in, but turned out to be quite good.  (Currently holding the number ten spot on our Secret Wars Power Rankings.)

Another Podcast Reaction: Secret Wars Edition

This week on the podcast, the Gabbingest of Geeks stopped to discuss the fact that they took the podcast’s birthday off.

Lazy goofs.

They also discussed time travel.  But I covered my time travel thoughts a long time ago, so I am not doing that again any time soon.  Besides, it looks like Jimmy is covering the time travel stuff just judging from his title, so I’ll leave it be.
