Yeah, we’ve got another Independence Day coming for some reason. Another trailer has dropped. How is it?
Self-referential? Cliched? Half-baked explanations for the total absence of Will Smith? Yup. All that is accounted for. Like the last one, it looks like a lot of ideas and shots taken from other, better movies. See for yourself after the cut.

And look, another celebrity who may be both the biggest one yet and who had a pseudonym listed in the closing credits, despite being very obviously identified.
I’m totally off the grid these days, but Ryan’s predictions are so bad I had to come in and rip them to shreds and give you the REAL numbers. His bold predictions about how the 2015 domestic box office would turn out were pretty weak. He called his performance was mixed–but for him mixed was chocolate plus peanut butter. In reality, it is a mix of Ex-lax and motor oil. So I am going to go, one by one, through his 2016 picks and give the real number. We have a lunch bet on who has the lowest delta between the acutals and their predictions. NO PRICE IS RIGHT RULES IN EFFECT!

One year ago I made some bold predictions about how the 2015 domestic box office would turn out. My performance was mixed–got some, missed some others. But now it’s time to look ahead to 2016. Jump after the break to see what I predict will be the top ten grossing films of the year along with 33 other movies I’m making some bold predictions on!
2016. Did any of us think we’d live this long? Yeah, probably. We’re Geeks, not morbid.
So, what sort of Geek Entertainment has us here at Gabbing Geek at least a little curious? See behind the cut, with some items getting some expert Geek Commentary from the Geek Guru himself, Jimmy Impossible.
Like many mid-90’s popcorn blockbusters, Independence Day often gets a hard time. I’m not sure why (ok, I get stuff like the “computer virus” being snickered at) but it is a great mindless summer movie, with good characters, effects, acting, etc. But I’m a sucker for things blowing up. So I’ve always liked ID4, but one thing I never felt was required was a sequel.
But 20 years later, as usual, no on listens to me and we have Indepence Day: Resurgence scheduled for release on June 24th, 2016. Remember that Will Smith guy who pretty much carried the film? No one wants to see him anymore. Let’s just bring back Jeff Goldblum from the core stars. Hey, it worked so well for Jurrasic Park! (I’m among the few that liked The Lost World, but that’s my joke and I’m sticking to it.)

One of the hottest topics on the Gabbing Geek website these days tends to be Margot Robbie’s upcoming portrayal of the villainous Harley Quinn. Particularly popular is her “Daddy’s Little Monster” t-shirt. The attention continues to surprise me so I wanted to look at JUST how big a star Robbie and her character are set to become. And as always, we at Gabbing Geek like to have some numbers.
In an article originally published in January, Gabbing Geek asked whether Johnny Depp was intentionally trying to end his A-List movie star status.
