Announcing a Gabbing Geek book club that probably won’t be covered by the podcast.
The Sy-Fy Channel revealed recently that they are going to be airing a three-episode mini-series based on Arthur C. Clarke’s Childhood’s End. I’m going to read it for the site. Some details after the cut.
OK, the book in question is only about 224 pages or so long, which makes me wonder how Sy-Fy got three episodes out of it, but no matter. As it stands, I am going on vacation Wednesday anyway, and I figure writing for here should take a quick break as well. So, while I will probably be reading Gabbing Geek from where I am, I won’t be writing for it. There are three very fine other writers working for this site, and one other whose kinda meh if you ask me and you didn’t, and they can handle new stuff for a couple days. Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if a couple of them tackled some of the regular features I write here.
Yes, someone else might do a Misplaced Hero. Wow.
Anyhoo, I’ll be back in early August, so let’s say I post a discussion for this book about a week after my return. I’ll be back August 10th, so something goes up August 17th. Maybe the other Gabbers will join in. I don’t know. It’s all a mystery.
That should be more than enough time to finish a book considered something of a classic in early science fiction. I hope to see you all then…well, maybe not see. That might be creepy.
Here’s the trailer for the Sy-Fy mini-series.
